SWMAS Ltd - Operational Update
SWMAS Ltd will be concluding its operations following the completion of its current programmes, in the absence of further funding to support continuation of the service. The Company will ensure that all obligations are met in full as part of a responsible and professionally managed closure. Since its establishment, SWMAS has played a key role in supporting SME manufacturers, helping businesses improve productivity, competitiveness, and growth. The organisation has worked closely with partners across the region to deliver tangible impact for the manufacturing sector over many years.
SWMAS delivered significant value through its programmes, supporting many manufacturing businesses to grow and improve. While we are proud of this impact, the organisation has been dependent on programme funding, and no further funding has been secured to enable continuation. Through consultations with stakeholders this scenario looks unlikely to change until 2029 to 2030 at the earliest therefore the Board has therefore taken the responsible decision to conclude operations in an orderly and solvent manner.
SWMAS will work with stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition and will provide appropriate guidance on alternative sources of support where available.
The Board would like to thank its staff, regional manufacturers, partners, and stakeholders for their contribution and support over the lifetime of the organisation.
The Economic Impact of SWMAS Ltd
Founded in 2002 SWMAS Ltd successfully delivered business support programmes to small and medium businesses across the South West of England. Since 2012, SWMAS has delivered 16 successful government funded programmes across the South West of England.
Working closely with LEPs, Growth Hubs, and Councils, we have provided tailored advice, support, training, and investment to over 7,500 regional firms.
